For the majority of the people in our churches, the Sunday School represents most of the formal Christian education they receive. It is necessary, therefore, to insure that the quality of education being offered through our Sunday School Ministry be the highest possible. One aspect of quality Christian education in our Sunday Schools is adequate training for Sunday School teachers, workers and other leaders. To help achieve this goal, the Sunday School Board of the Convention of Original Free Will Baptist has developed this certification program.
The program for all is essentially the same with only one exception for superintendents in the area of methodology. The Certification Program is divided into six categories that represent a minimum of 100 hours of study that should be completed within a two year span of time. After completion, a special recognition service will be held to award certificates to the participant and to the church, if the church has adopted and sponsored the program for it's Sunday School workers. The categories and approximate hours of study are as follows:
- Teaching to Make a Difference - Teacher and Superintendent
(20 hour workshop)
- Spiritual Life and Growth - Teacher and Superintendent -

(individual reading)
- Methodologies (Reading and/ or Seminars)
